Van and Bus Operators:

If you would like to become a bus driver, we welcome new drivers and offer paid training and full assistance throughout the process of obtaining your Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a P endorsement.

 

Qualified applicants must:

  • Be at least 19 years of age;

  • Have 3 years of regular driving experience;

  • Have a high school diploma, GED, or the equivalent in work experience.

 

Benefits:

  • Starting pay while training $12/hour and increased to $17/hour after obtaining CDL

  • Flexible hours

  • CDL training and road testing provided

Mechanic I:

The Mechanic I works under the direction of the Shop Supervisor to assist in the implementation of the preventive maintenance program, daily maintenance repair schedule, the emergency repair of buses, vans, automobiles, and building equipment. Work also involves stocking parts and supplies, coordinating with other mechanics, and assisting in the accurate record keeping of the above. This is a full-time hourly position, based on a 40 hour work week.
This position reports to the Shop Supervisor.

Qualified Applicants must:

·       Have two years of work experience in an automotive, trucking, or transit maintenance and repair facility. 

·       A valid Class B CDL license or higher with a “P” endorsement along with a current medical certificate.

Accounting Technician:

The Accounting Technician works under the Finance Director. This individual will perform intermediate technical work preparing and maintaining financial accounts and records according to standardized accounting practices and related work as required. Tasks are performed under regular supervision.

This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects. The work requires stooping, reaching, fingering, grasping, feeling, and repetitive motions. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Visual acuity is required for color perception, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities. The worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.

This is a full-time hourly position based on a 40 hour work week.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains general accounting records requiring segregation of monies and expenditures into a number of accounts involving local, state, and federal funds, including asset management

  • Prepares and processes accounts receivable; total checks and cash for deposit; enters receipts in revenue codes

  • Processes accounts payable; reviews payment requests; reconciles statements with vendors

  • Enters accounts receivable data; checks for accuracy; balances vouchers to proper reports and posts to proper account; prepares and mails checks

  • Works to resolve vendor problems; responds to inquiries from vendors and departments

  • Works under the Direction of AppalCART’s Finance Officer in regard to logging parts into the inventory, and recording the use of parts in vehicle repairs. Works with the Finance Officer to assure an accurate annual inventory of vehicle parts.

  • Assists the Finance Officer in the preparation of grant reimbursement requests.

  • Assists the Finance Officer with the processing of payroll and time keeping

  • Answers requests from employees regarding wages and retirement benefits, as well as from lending institutions

  • Assists with any other tasks necessary to carry out the mission of AppalCART

  • Performs related tasks as required

Qualifications:

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited community college with major course work in bookkeeping, accounting, or related field and some accounting experience.
