Reserving Your Ride

You must call to reserve a ride at least 30 minutes prior to route departure time from Boone. If nobody calls, the route will not run. Fares range from $1.00-$2.00 according to distance. Trip tickets may be purchased for $20 for 40 punches, equaling $.50 per punch. Arrival times vary with the number of riders and different locations for picking them up.

Regional Medical Trips

Under contract with the Department of Social Services, AppalCART provides regional Medicaid trips which are open to
the fare paying public. Fares are $10 to Wilkesboro one-way and $15 round trip; Winston Salem $25 one-way and $40
round trip; Hickory $12 one-way and $20 round trip; Charlotte $30 one-way and $50 round trip. These routes are
usually scheduled a week in advance, and individuals must call the dispatch office to see when we have a trip scheduled.

Schedules: Routes 1 - 4

Routes 1 - 4 have a 12:30 PM departure date from Boone on the 2nd Wednesday of every month instead of 4:00 PM. However, if you need a 4:00 PM return trip, let the dispatcher know by calling the number at the top of this page at least 30 minutes prior to departure. We will then schedule a 4:00 PM return trip for you. On the 2nd Wednesday of every month, appointments must be made at least 24 hours before departure.

Project on Aging- Senior's Transportation

Routes 6 -10 are sponsored by the Watauga County Project on Aging. If you are 60 years old, you may register with The Project on Aging and receive free transportation from your home in Watauga County to the Senior Center or to your doctor's appointments in Boone by using the appropriate routes above. The return trip features grocery shopping!
